Unsubscribe All

It seems like no matter how many times I scroll all the way down to the bottom of an email and click "unsubscribe, yes really unsubscribe!" I never can unsubscribe from certain stores email lists. 

I've tried apps such as unroll.me, and that helps to keep a little bit of the clutter out of my inbox, but never enough. And it isn't really a way to get off of those mailing lists, rather a filter into some strange digital netherspace. 

The motivation behind wanting to unsubscribe isn't just to not see ads for useless crap, though that definitely factors into it, but rather to decrease digital & emotional stimulation. 

I abandoned Facebook several months ago and have been much happier overall. The time I spent on Facebook, and which I still spend browsing ConstantContact mailings from Macy's, Starbucks, and Banana Republic, proves to be better spent reading a book, practicing hand-lettering, or writing. 

The teeny high I get when my phone buzzes with a new email notification, and subsequent disappointment, "Oh. Spam," are sensations is like to part with. I can't even shop at these places, so how does seeing deals and coupons benefit me? 

It definitely doesn't. 

Here is a list of companies I have hit unsubscribe on*:

• Macy's 
• Express
• Ulta
• Rite Aid
• Plenti 
• Gap
• Banana Republic

And yet I still get emails from every single one of those retailers.
