Day 1: Challenges Right Out The Gate

Yesterday we woke up, and Addison said "I'm going to Starbucks. Wanna come with?" And I had barely opened my eyes and said "Yeah let me get dressed. Oh and maybe after that we can go to the mall where I can buy new running shoes."

Then I really woke up, and realized "Oh it's January 1, 2016, I can't do any of that at all. Can we find a local coffee roaster?"

So after a 20 minute Yelp search, we ended up deciding on a spot...an 8 mile drive away. We drove 20 minutes to get coffee, before we had had our coffee. Addison was a good sport, I will give him that. The wifi there was slow, the coffee was only ok (San Jose has an awful coffee scene), but we enjoyed the random driving around.

I decided to wait until we are home in Philly to hunt down my next sneakers--Philadelphia doesn't have sales tax on clothing items, so I will find a local athletics store and give them my purchase.

After coffee and deciding on the shoes, we went to Fry's for Addison to buy some hard drive enclosure, and I was looking at getting a gift for a friend of mine, who needs a serious work flashlight. I want to buy it locally, but if that flashlight isn't exactly right, I want my friend to be able to return it or exchange it to get one she likes. So, I decided to use one of my "3 cheats a month" on this flashlight thing. its more important to me that the gift fulfill its purpose, than my project be perfect. So that will be purchased at a chain/major retailer with a gift reciept, also when we get home.
